PLUSPATCH, THE COLD PATCH ROAD REPAIR MATERIAL FROM TRI-PRODUCTS, LLC., MEETS NEW NORTHEAST REGION ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS Company provides an eco-friendly, cold patch material that is compliant with new state regulations restricting the use of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) PROVIDENCE, R.I., October 29, (2009) - Tri-Products, LLC., has available a cold patch asphalt emulsion that meets the new state regulations restricting the use of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) content in the Northeast region of the United States. The product, plus PATCH, provides customers - hot mix asphalt producers - with an environmentally-friendly, cold patch material with low Volatile Organic compounds (VOC) content. Now, states in this region must submit plans to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) demonstrating how they will meet their 8-hour National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The Ozone Transport Commission (OTC), a multi-state organization created under the Clean Air Act (CAA) is responsible for advising the EPA on transport issues and providing solutions as they relate to ground-level ozone problems. Recommendations were made by the OTC to completely ban the use of cutback asphalt during the ozone season and greatly reduce VOC emissions from emulsified asphalts. These recommendations have been put into place in several states whiles others have pending regulations that will adopt the restrictions. Connecticut was the first state to adopt the regulations, effectively banning the use of cutback asphalt during the ozone or summer months and greatly reducing VOC emissions from emulsified asphalts. Maine and New Jersey have passed identical regulations. Rhode Island has also just passed the regulation and it will go into effect on May 1, 2010. According to Mike Jennings, Director of Sales and Marketing of Tri-Products, " We are very pleased to have a "green" product available to the industry that helps our customers meet imposed VOC restrictions. Plus PATCH provides our customers with a top-performing, environmentally safe alternative." Its superior adhesive properties keep plus PATCH in place long after other cold patch materials begin to fail. Open graded aggregate gradation locks together forming a solid repair that will not shift under traffic loads. The product can be stockpiled for up to 12 months without severe oxidation concerns. It is an ideal maintenance product for repairs to our roads, parking lots, utilities and private driveways. Plus Patch is available as a bulk liquid to mix plants and will be available in 50lb. Bags.
